#1 Buat lagu hit yg radio selalu putarkan
Obviously, kalau lagu hit memang lah dapat banyak lagu royalti. Lagi banyak lagi bagus.

#2 Buat banyak lagu
Ok, bayangkan awak dapat RM100 je utk 1 lagu. Ok sekarang buat 1000 lagu camtu. Volume boleh menolong menaikkan your royalty awak. Buat buat dan buat.

#3 Buat jenis lagu yg orang suka karaoke
Kalau pandai buat balada, itu cun gak. Selalu org karaoke lagu camne? Ok buat lagu camtu. Sebab ada banyak pusat karaoke dlm negara kita dan mereka bayar royalty.

#4 Buat lagu tema
Lagu tema sukan ke, festival ke, apa apa lah. Because dia akan diputarkan selalu. Lagi banyak dimainkan lagi banyak royalty awak.

#5 Buat lagu yg niche
Tak semestinya kena buat lagu commercial. Lagu utk yoga ke, lagu utk meditasi ke. Lagi banyak org guna lagi bagus. Tak semestinya karaoke, streaming pun boleh gak.

Dah ada lagu? Tapi tak reti camne nak masuk Spotify?

Sebenarnya ada banyak cara nak masukkan lagu kita ke dalam Spotify atau streaming platform lain, tapi ini adalah cara yang paling biasa orang buat;

1) Sign dengan syarikat rakaman sebagai artis: First sekali, kalau lagu kita best gila record label mesti nak sign kita dan ambik lagu kita jadi single. Itu dah kira settle dah. So apa yang perlu dibuat ialah siapkan lagu tu dan lagu awak terus masuk streaming.

2) Dapatkan distribution: Sama dengan atas, tapi awak own your masters. You pay for your own song. Record label akan edarkan lagu awak dengan sedikit fee, mungkin beberapa peratus daripada sales digital lagu tersebut. .

3) Start a record label: Ini memerlukan kos yang agak besar, tetapi company ada mempunyai access untuk hantar lagu bila bila masa anda release sesuatu. .
Satu lagi cara yang independent artis selalu buat ialah dengan menggunakan platform di internet seperti CDBaby, Tunecore dan sebagainya. .
Ia sama seperti distribution dengan syarikat rakaman cuma platform platform ini based kat luar jadi dia takda access untuk Ringbacktones yang local.

Saya selalu nampak benda ni org selalu post, dikalangan org2 muzik. Ntah2 masa muda pun saya pernah post camni. So being in the industry for 20 years, nasihat saya ialah…

STOP DOING THAT! …

First of all kalau taknak perform, just say no. U can choose your client. Takyah post kat socmed. Bila u buat camtu your potential client terus takut nak bagi job, walaupun yg ada budget. Takut lah, nanti u kutuk dia kat socmed. Kacau bisnes dia.

Here’s a SECRET: Tau tak most of my paid gigs dulu2 dapat dari “exposure” shows macam ni. Kadang2 ada event organizer yg dtg tgk kita perform kat show. Dia tak tau kita perform free masa tu. Lepas tu dia suka kita punya show. Bila dia ada event best dia call u. Result: more paid gigs. Trylah, saya tak tipu. Tested and proven.

Yes of course org akan selalu mintak free, kadang2 tak berbaloi. Kena pandai scan lah. You should pick & choose to your advantage. Jangan marah2 kat FB. Saya pun selalu je org mintak beat free sampai sekarang. Kau rasa? Tapi takyah marah kot, just say no lah. .

Satu lagi bila u post benda2 negative2 camtu, u akan mengajak org komen benda2 negatif jugak, secara otomatik korang akan attract that kind of crowd. “Positive vibes only” tak leh pakai dah, if u start marah2 on internet first.

Last sekali, business ni works on the law of supply and demand. How much should you charge? Your price is determined by that. Kalau kita bagus & ada demand, org akan willing to pay, dan kita tak boleh bagi value, harga kita pun tak tinggi. What kind of value can u give to your client?

Macam mana nak buat lagu laju laju?

DJ Fuzz, macam mana dapat ilham buat lagu? Masa tgh mandi ke?

Saya sering ditanya soalan macam tu. Basically org nak tahu mcm mana nak start idea buat lagu tu .
Ada banyak banyak cara nak cipta lagu. Biasanya saya akan buat beberapa rutin macam ni kalau saya nak cari lagu baru.

1) Buat beat dulu : Mula mula apabila saya dah buat beat saya akan dengar berulang kali dan dari situ saya boleh buat chorus dia. Dia mungkin dalam bentuk melodi atau saya akan buat lirik sekali.

2) Buat chord progression: Saya akan buat satu chord progression. Biasanya tak banyak, dalam 3-4 progression. Lepas tu saya akan buat melodi chorus dulu. Lepas tu baru saya akan buat verse dia.

3) Buat melody terus: Saya tak akan pedulikan key apa atau chord apa, saya terus buat melodi, yang lain saya akan sambung lepas tu.

Faedah buat Producer Tag

Ada banyak sebab kenapa kita elok buat producer tag. Apa tu producer tag? Alah kan kat depan lagu hip hop ada selalu macam tagline, eg. “DJ Fuuuzzzzz”, “Mustard on the beat ho”, “We got London on the track” dan lain lain. So kebanyakan beatmakers harini selalu letak tagline tu kat beat diorang bila diorang release lagu. Tau tak kenapa kita buat macam tu?

1) Branding for the beatmaker: Bila orang biasa dengar orang akan recognize sound tu dan menambahkan kredibiliti brand anda. Ramai orang lebih kenal, boleh menolong menaikkan populariti beatmaker.

2) Copyright: Kadang kadang ada orang yang suka rembat beat orang taknak bayar, jadi dengan cara ini diaorang tak boleh nak lari mana. So producer tag protects your beats from being stolen.

3) Ikut jelah trend! .

Ok ke kalau lepas diorang bayar beat tu kita maintain letak producer tag kat situ?

Takdahal, some rappers nak tag tu stay kat situ, because mungkin nama awak boleh jual lagu dia, dan kita juga dapat maintain brand kita kat lagu tu. Apa apahal jangan letak tag tu merata dalam lagu, sampai jadi annoying, letak sekali dah cukup.

Warm up DJs

Warm up DJs, there’s a reason why they call it warm up…

There’s nothing wrong with being a warm up DJ. Everybody goes through that at the early stage of their DJing life. Do u know that a warm up DJ carries a heavier responsibility than a headliner DJ?
.
Its easy to play the current hits and get the party going, but its harder to get the party started when the venue is still empty. That’s real skills right there!
.
I know we will be tempted to spin all the big hits to get them to dance, but think about it, we need to take it slow, start with a recognizable tune, a classic but not too big, but good enough to get the party moving. .
If u can manage to keep the dancefloor moving with a warm up set, u can rock the crowd easier when u are a headliner! .
Have some respect and keep all the new hits for the main DJ bcos later when u famous, u will expect the same kind of respect too.

Do not scratch excessively in the clubs… (tips for DJs)

[Scratch DJs] You can scratch? Great. But don’t overdo it in a club set..

Scratching techniques can be added in your mix set but make sure its not excessive. Remember that this is not a DJ battle.
.
.
Party rockin means your job is to entertain the crowd, make them dance and have a good time. U can incorporate your DMC turntablism battle skill in a set, but sometimes we tend to overdo it. This sometimes can turn people off. .
Remember our objective is to make sure they have a good time on the dance floor. If the dj tricks add razzmatazz to the mix, by all means pls do it. But if what u do on the turntables will stop them from dancing, thats like a no no. I used to do that before. I beat juggled too much, and the crowd was like, “whats happening here?” 😂

Unless u are a battle champ who is invited to perform your scratch routine, thats perfectly ok. I have seen a lot of these turntablists who were invited to perform their routine, and they scratch heavy in their set, thats OK because they were invited for that reason, to showcase their turntablism skills. .
Add some skills to your set, make your set interesting and different from the rest, but remember do not overdo it. 💙 #tipsdjfuzz

DJs, stop staring at your laptop!

Tip harini – The laptop bukan audience awak

Harini kebanyakan DJ akan pakai laptop bila perform, dan ramai yg terbiasanya jadi “Serato Face”, dimana diorang selalu tenung laptop sepanjang set, as if theyre stock trading when theyre DJing.
.
So what about your crowd? Nampak bosan doh bila DJ tu sentiasa tengok laptop je masa tgh spin. We are rocking a party, the crowd is dancing and u are leading the party, while staring at the laptop 100% of the time…
.
Bayangkan, awak tgh dating, tapi awek tu layan phone je all the time, tak best kan?
.
Bayangkan jugak, awak pergi concert, tapi penyanyi tu perform sambil pandang drummer dia all the time. Best ke tak best?
.
Thats why it is important to look at the crowd and party with them while u are spinning. Of course kita kena tengok laptop tu jugak, kalau tak camne nak cari lagu. Tapi make sure, all that cue-ing, marking is done before u perform. So kuranglah attention kat laptop tu .
.
Sometimes, banyak DJ baru especially yang buat camni sebab , 1) Dia nervous & malu 2) Buat buat busy. Dulu masa saya start DJ kita pakai record & CD, so saya akan buat buat busy belek belek record box, dan buat2 cari CD, same thing! Thats bcos I was nervous and scared to face the crowd. Overcome the challenge by smiling and hyping up with them.
